No one hacks well like the Blackwell.

To you, my friends, I expose the soft underbelly of my big dragony body. If there's one thing all these stupid greeting cards reveal about me, it's that I have a giant weakness for puns. Bad ones, brilliant ones, they're all the same to me.
Surprise! Another Dig cover! I didn't find out until the day before they hit the stands. I hope I become famous for drawing horse butts. "Y'know, Ali Blackwell... The horse butt lady." Anyway, though, to quote my favorite movie, Yippee-ki-yay, motherf*cker!
Clockwise from top left: Original ink drawing, front page of portfolio proper, minifolio, minifolio interior (it worked out!), mini cover prior to folding, printout of line drawing colored with prismas. Note color swatches up top- I choose the colors before I start. For this I allowed myself a certain number of punch colors and the rest were all neutrals. Still, I ended up with a Lisa Frank pallette. Go, me!
I banged this out today as a wraparound cover for mini-version portfolios I'm making to leave behind at portfolio reviews. I realize there are some technical issues here, but as it's a cover and not a "real" portfolio piece, I just let loose and have fun. Hopefully the joy comes across more strongly than the mistakes.
Hey, everybody! I wanted to post another stupid card (market research- would you buy this?) and also give a shout-out to my bud Gabby, who just got into Spectrum! It's kind of a big deal... Visit the website!

The past few days have been INTENSE. I've spent my afternoons toiling away at many greeting cards (most of them thank-you notes) with the Barchester Chronicles DVD set on as background noise. BTW, Obadiah Slope (nee Slop) is odious indeed! I'll have to read the books soon; I bet they're hilarious.
